Bicentennial: 200 Years and counting of identity crises

"Dios quiso que yo fuese la presidente durante del bicentenario " and other bold lies...

During her speech at Argentina's Bicentennial Celebration, Christina Kirchner, the (co)president of Argentina, said that "God wanted me to be the president during the bicentennial."

This audacity of divine rule also extended into the demarcation of the Argentine identity, the continued invisibilization of Afro-Argentines, and their historical contributions to society.

Reunion de La Juventud de Los Cabo Verdeanos

Two Cape Verdean youth political action groups held a historic meeting. Due to political feud and differences in ideology it had been quite a time since the two groups had worked together.

Instead of talking politics, I played with my adopted baby Tuti, who is my twin when I was younger.
Check out the highlights of the event...

Brasil:A Gostoza Your Shame Cave

I went for an academic conference and I found my homeland. After visiting Salvador de Bahia for five days, it seems impossible that I won't return there to live for at least a while. If I end up spending the rest of my life there...I wouldn't mind a bit.

Understand why I started taking Portuguese classes upon my return...

Death: losing memories of things that never were, gaining a bridge to the otherside

Some weeks into my trip, my Dad's mother passed away. Unable to mourn with the family...I did a bit of writing to reflect on her moving to the other side and spoke a lot to my father.
My daddy's thoughts on death and dying...
